Free Google Certifications

Google's free certifications come from its own training platforms rather than from its courses on Coursera. Skillshop, which has absorbed the former Digital Garage, offers free courses in Google's advertising and analytics products and issues free certifications when you pass the assessment; those certifications are verifiable online, carry an expiry, and must be renewed by retaking the exam. Google Skills offers hands-on labs and badges with a free tier. What is not free is the family of Google Career Certificates hosted on Coursera: they are subscription products, and the certificate requires payment, so they do not appear on this page. On this site, free certification means a free course with a free, verifiable certificate, which is distinct from a free-to-audit course whose certificate is paid, and distinct again from a subscription with a trial period.
Everything listed here meets the first definition. The certifications concentrate on marketing and advertising, analytics and, on Google Skills, cloud and AI topics, so the page is most useful to marketers, small-business owners running their own campaigns, agency staff who need to prove product knowledge, and anyone starting out in cloud work. Read each course page before enrolling: the certification assessment usually sits at the end of a learning path, the pass mark and validity are set by Google and may change, and some paths are aimed at existing account holders rather than at beginners. Questions about free google certifications
Are Google Career Certificates free?
No. They are hosted on Coursera as a subscription with a trial period, and the certificate requires payment. They are therefore not on this page, which lists only courses whose certificate is free.
Do Google's free certifications expire?
Skillshop certifications carry a validity period set by Google and are renewed by retaking the assessment. Check the certification page for the current term, since Google adjusts these from time to time.
How do employers verify a Google certification?
