Selection criteria
A course is eligible when all of the following hold:
- The provider is an accredited university, an established learning platform, or a company publishing its own training, and the course page is on the provider's official site.
- The course is free in full or free to audit in full. Previews limited to a first module, free trials and subscriptions do not qualify.
- The provider's page states the cost and, where a certificate exists, whether it is free or paid.
- The teaching stands on its own for a self-directed learner: complete lectures or readings, and exercises or projects where the subject calls for them.
- The material is current for its subject, or is a classic that still holds up.
Within a provider or subject we do not aim to list everything. We list the courses we would recommend, and the hub says how many that is.
What we record
For each course: title, provider, subjects, the link to the provider's page, the cost model, whether a certificate is available and what it costs, the credential type, level, duration and weekly effort as stated by the provider, format, language, and the date we last verified it. Summaries and "what you'll learn" lists are written by us from the provider's syllabus.
We never invent prices, durations, ratings, enrolment counts, popularity or update dates. If the provider does not state a fact, the entry omits it rather than guessing. The site has no star ratings.
Rankings and picks
Hubs list courses in editorial order. Three things decide it: how far the course takes you, how well the teaching works when watched alone, and whether the work is graded. Provider reputation breaks ties. "Our picks" on a subject page are chosen by the same people for the reason stated next to each pick.
Nobody can pay for placement, and advertising or affiliate status never affects whether a course is listed or where it appears.
Verification cadence
Every course link is checked automatically each week for availability. A person re-checks the cost model, certificate terms and duration at least every 180 days, and each course page shows the date of the last check. An entry that has gone longer than 180 days without a check shows a notice until it is verified again. Courses that disappear from the provider are removed.
Corrections and removals
If an entry is wrong, or you represent a provider and want an entry changed or removed, use the contact page. Provider requests are honoured promptly; corrections are applied as soon as they are confirmed against the provider's page.
Affiliate disclosure
Some outbound links may in future become affiliate links through networks such as Impact. When that happens, the
link carries a rel="sponsored" attribute and we may earn a commission if you enrol or pay for a
certificate, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate status never affects selection or order, and free courses stay
free. At the time of writing, no affiliate links are live on the site.
Advertising
The site is funded by advertising served by Google AdSense. Ads appear in fixed, labelled positions outside the course listings. Advertisers have no influence over which courses are listed or how they are described. Details of the data involved are in the privacy policy.
