Introduction to Cloud, course code CC0101EN, gives the vocabulary of cloud computing from both a business and a practitioner point of view. The Cognitive Class page states an estimated effort of six hours at beginner level, in English, and describes it as self-paced. Six modules run in order: an overview of cloud computing, with its definition, essential characteristics, history and the main providers; cloud adoption and emerging technologies, including the business case and how cloud supports AI, the Internet of Things, blockchain and analytics; service and deployment models, comparing IaaS, PaaS and SaaS and public, private and hybrid clouds; the components of cloud computing, covering virtualisation, virtual machines, bare metal, secure networks and containers; cloud storage, from direct-attached and file storage to block and object storage and content delivery networks; and cloud-native and emergent trends such as hybrid multicloud, serverless, microservices and application modernisation.
The page says you need no cloud knowledge or extensive programming experience to take it. The course is free of charge and the page says a certificate is offered on completion at no cost.
