Docker Essentials: A Developer Introduction, course code CO0101EN, is a compact, lab-driven introduction to containers. The Cognitive Class page states an estimated effort of three hours at beginner level, in English. After a short set-up section, three labs run in order: running your first container, which explains what containers are and has you run, run several and remove containers; adding CI/CD value with Docker images, in which you create a small Python app, build and run its image, push it to a central registry, deploy a change, understand image layers and clean up; and orchestrating applications with Docker Swarm, where you create a swarm, deploy and scale a service, apply rolling updates, watch the swarm reconcile problems and reason about how many nodes you need. A final exam closes the course.
No container knowledge or extensive programming experience is expected, but you must be comfortable running command-line tools, install Docker Community Edition or use Play-with-Docker, and hold a Docker Hub account for the third lab. The course is free of charge and the page says a certificate is offered on completion at no cost. IBM's badges page also lists a Docker Essentials digital badge issued through Credly.
