AWS Cloud Quest: Cloud Practitioner is a game-based learning experience on AWS Skill Builder in which you create an avatar, talk to virtual customers and solve their problems by building real solutions in a live AWS environment. The course page lists its access tier as Free, a duration of 12 hours and a level of Fundamental, and says no prior experience is necessary. It contains 12 free hands-on assignments, each supported by instructional videos, architecture diagrams and knowledge quizzes, covering compute, networking, security and storage with services such as EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS and DynamoDB; the outline runs from Cloud Computing Essentials and Cloud First Steps through networking, databases, file systems and security to auto-healing, scaling and highly available web applications.

Completing every assignment in the Cloud Practitioner role earns an official AWS badge issued through Credly, which AWS's badge page describes as free to earn and share. AWS positions the role as a first step towards the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam; the exam itself is a separate paid product. Only the Cloud Practitioner and Generative AI Practitioner roles appear under Skill Builder's free access tier; the other Cloud Quest roles need a subscription and are not listed here.
