The third certification in freeCodeCamp's Full-Stack Developer curriculum covers the libraries developers use to build web pages — React and TypeScript above all. The single teaching chapter runs from React fundamentals to React state, hooks and routing, then into performance and testing, CSS libraries and frameworks, and TypeScript fundamentals, closing with a review. Projects are threaded through the chapter: a currency converter, a tic-tac-toe game, a photography exhibit design, a flashcard quiz app and a digital pet game. The second chapter is the certification exam.

As with every certification in this curriculum, you complete the five required projects to qualify for the exam and pass the exam to claim the certificate. Lessons, workshops, labs, reviews and quizzes are interactive and run in the browser, and the whole path is self-paced. There is nothing to pay at any point: freeCodeCamp is a nonprofit, states that taking the exam is free of charge, and issues the certificate at a public URL on freecodecamp.org that employers can verify.

What you’ll learn

  • Build interfaces with React fundamentals, state, hooks and routing
  • Improve performance and write tests for front-end code
  • Use CSS libraries and frameworks
  • Apply TypeScript fundamentals
  • Complete the required projects and pass the Front-End Development Libraries certification exam

Who it’s for

Developers comfortable with JavaScript who want React and TypeScript taught with projects and a certificate; not for those still learning the language basics.
