Diploma in Interior Design

Alison's Diploma in Interior Design is a text-based survey of the whole discipline, published on Alison by CourseFlix. It opens by defining interior design and the designer's daily work and career paths, then follows the order of a real project: client communication and project planning (preliminary diagrams, floor plans and the basic principles of design), planning individual rooms and commercial spaces with accessibility in mind, and the role of colour, including colour psychology and neutral schemes. The second half covers surface materials and textures, the three main types of lighting, the history and selection of furniture, natural and synthetic textiles and accessories, sustainability and ethics, and finally the practical side of setting up an interior design business. There are eleven content modules, each ending in a short summary, two mid-course assessments after modules five and eleven, and a final course assessment.

The course is self-paced, rated Beginner Level, CPD-accredited and available in English and Spanish; Alison lists an average duration of 10 to 15 hours. Studying it costs nothing. The Alison Diploma at the end is optional and paid, in digital or printed form; if you skip it you can still download a free Learner Record as proof of completion.
