Designing Children's Rooms

Designing Children's Rooms is a short, video-based Alison course published by One Education that covers one niche of interior design and the small business you could build around it. The single content module, Furnishing Children's Rooms, begins with how colour affects emotion and how brightness, shade and warm or cold undertones can be used to calm a child, then moves to choosing furniture for different age groups, designing floors and ceilings, and creating storage that keeps toys, clothes, books and craft materials safe and tidy. It goes on to applying a theme to a room, with examples. The second half of the module turns to entrepreneurship: the attributes that suit business owners, how to write a business plan, how to build a team of staff and consultants, and marketing tactics that showcase creative work.

A course assessment follows. Alison rates the course Beginner Level, lists an average duration of 1.5 to 3 hours, marks it CPD-accredited and offers it in English only; it is self-paced. Studying is free. The Alison Certificate is optional and paid, in digital or printed form, and a free Learner Record is available after completion.
