Introduction to Food & Health is a short Stanford Medicine continuing-education course hosted on edX, where it is offered in an audit-only track at no cost; there is no paid edX certificate for it. The credential comes from the other direction: Stanford Center for Continuing Medical Education lists the activity with a registration fee of FREE, an estimated 2.5 hours to complete, and 2.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits for physicians or 2.5 hours of Non-Physician Participation Credit for everyone else. After finishing the course on edX you follow a claim-credit link to Stanford's MY CE portal, complete an evaluation, and can then view, print or email the certificate from the portal. Stanford's CME accreditation for this activity runs to January 7, 2027, and the edX run ends the same day.
The course itself, taught by Maya Adam of Stanford Pediatrics, uses videos, animated case studies and interactive activities to cover the fundamentals of nutrition, motivational interviewing and nutritional assessment in primary care, forming a strategy from that assessment, setting iterative goals and giving patients skills-based resources. edX rates it advanced and self-paced at one week of 2 to 3 hours; Stanford writes it for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and allied health professionals, and lists no prerequisites. The certificate is a CME participation certificate, not a public badge with a verification link.
