Structure and Function of Argument: Introduction to Critical Thinking teaches the anatomy of everyday arguments: a main claim backed by supporting reasons, sometimes with counterpoints to anticipated objections. Through practice exercises you learn to recognise, analyse and construct the arguments you meet daily, map them visually, judge whether the reasons actually support the speaker's claim, and build well-constructed responses. The course also works on listening (understanding other perspectives, handling logical fallacies and conflicting points of view, and disagreeing respectfully) and on noticing underlying assumptions and biases.
Harvard presents it as a way to improve overall English language and communication skills as well as logical reasoning and emotional intelligence. It is self-paced, eight weeks long at 2 to 3 hours per week, and rated introductory. The course is free to audit on edX, with a verified certificate available for $209.
