Kant's Critique of Pure Reason
- Free
- No certificate
Kant's Critique of Pure Reason is an eight-lecture series from Oxford's Faculty of Philosophy, given by Dan Robinson and released as open content in audio and video. It is a guided reading of Kant's central work for students and independent readers who want to understand its key ideas in metaphysics. The course opens by asking what Kant's project actually is and setting out the broader philosophical context, then moves through the book's main arguments: space, time and the Analogies of Experience; how synthetic a priori judgements are possible; idealisms and their refutations; concepts, judgement and the Transcendental Deduction of the Categories; the self and the synthetic unity of apperception; and finally the discipline of reason in the paralogisms and antinomies. The series is free, with no enrolment, assessment or certificate.
The eight lectures are available as audio and video with transcripts, from the series page or through Apple Podcasts and RSS. The recordings carry a Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial-Share Alike 2.0 UK licence, allowing non-commercial reuse with attribution. Some prior exposure to philosophy will help.
