This is the first learning path in Microsoft's SC-900 series on security, compliance and identity fundamentals. Microsoft's catalog lists it at 97 minutes, which we show as 1.6 hours, and marks it beginner level, with business users and students as the intended audience. There are two modules of roughly equal length. The first describes security and compliance concepts, including the shared responsibility model, defence in depth and the Zero Trust approach, and how compliance requirements shape the way organisations handle data. The second describes identity concepts: authentication and authorisation, identity as the new security perimeter, and the components of a modern identity solution.

Both modules are text units with a short knowledge check at the end, and neither requires an Azure or Microsoft 365 subscription. The path is free, like all Microsoft Learn training, and no account is required to read it; sign in only if you want to track progress and earn the completion trophy. Microsoft does not issue a certificate for finishing a learning path, so we list it without a credential. Three companion paths in the same series cover Microsoft Entra, Microsoft's security solutions and Microsoft Purview.
