Finance and capital markets is Khan Academy's ten-unit course on how money, markets and financial instruments work. It opens with interest and debt: compound interest and the rule of 72, credit cards and payday loans, continuous compounding and the number e, present value and discounted cash flow, and personal bankruptcy. It then covers housing, including home equity and personal balance sheets, followed by inflation, taxes, and accounting and financial statements. The second half turns to markets: stocks and bonds; investment vehicles, insurance and retirement; money, banking and central banks; options, swaps, futures, mortgage-backed securities, CDOs and other derivatives; and a unit on current economics.
The material is video lessons grouped by topic, without the quizzes, unit tests and mastery tracking found in Khan Academy's math courses. It is free in full, with no paid tier and no certificate. No duration is stated, and the units can be watched in any order.
