Cybersecurity Fundamentals is one of the digital credentials on IBM SkillsBuild, IBM's free learning site for adult learners and students. IBM's public credentials page lists it for all learners, gives an estimated duration of 7.5 hours and says the badge covers cyber threat groups, types of attack, social engineering, case studies, cyber security risk management strategies, cryptography, and the ways organisations prevent, detect and respond to attacks, along with an awareness of the job market. The course is available in English and fifteen other languages. To earn the badge you complete the course and pass the end-of-course assessment with a score of 80 percent or higher; the credential is then issued through Credly, whose badge page lists the cost as free and the type as a learning badge.

SkillsBuild itself answers "Is IBM SkillsBuild really free?" with a plain yes and describes the programme as 100 percent free and online. The course content sits behind a free SkillsBuild account (sign in with an IBMid, Google or GitHub), so the module list could not be read without logging in; the facts here come from IBM's public credentials page and the Credly badge page. Credly labels the badge Intermediate while IBM describes the knowledge as foundational, so no level is stored.
