This course covers the ideas and algorithms behind modern artificial intelligence, from graph search and classification to optimization, machine learning and large language models, and has you build each into your own Python programs. Harvard states the prerequisite as CS50x or at least one year of experience with Python and lists the difficulty as intermediate. The material is arranged as seven weeks; for each, you watch a lecture and then submit a project, so the course is assessed entirely through hands-on projects. It is free to take through the CS50 OpenCourseWare site, and a free edX account is required to submit projects for feedback.
A score of at least 70% on every project earns a free CS50 Certificate, and a verified certificate can be purchased through edX, where Harvard's listing gives the price as $299. The same listing states a time commitment of 10 to 30 hours per week. By the end, Harvard says, students have experience with machine learning libraries and enough grounding in AI principles to design intelligent systems of their own.
