So I’ve had careers on both sides of the camera. This gives me unique insight into what triggers sales. It’s much more important than just taking pretty pictures of products. We go into deep detail on everything! I’m incredibly excited to share this with you and see your progress.

- Artists & craftsman that want to learn to professionally shoot their work to increase sales

I did get some useful thoughts and ideas from the course. I found the set of shots suggested helpful, the introduction to building a set of keywords to use as a reference for the branding was good. The concrete example on a way to diversify research was good. Ted presents very well, and feels genuine. I enjoy the way his personality comes through the course and his sense of humor. Overall, however, the content felt like it was a bit shallow. It gave a high level overview of product photography as a business, spent less time on the photography its self than I would have expected, and only occasionally gave some examples. To give a concrete example, Ted talks about getting smooth, diffused light but doesn’t talk about times when having harder light with strong shadows might be beneficial. Ted lists things that are useful to have on a shoot but doesn’t say why – why would I use duct tape, how do small heavy objects support a product, etc. Ted gives an overview in the first section about generating a list of words that describe the brand, and then recycles this video later on and doesn’t go into much more detail – or the detail he goes into didn’t stand out from the previously introduced content. The 3-4 minutes of music at the end felt like a cheap way to bulk out the course time. I would have hoped for some more practical examples, for an example building a mood board, brand description, deciding what lighting to use, what background elements to put in place and talking through why – the philosophy behind the decisions made for a shoot.

I love the teaching style of this instructor and I’ve already learned some valuable tips and a foundation for branding photography in the first 4 sections. I’m excited to continue on!

Quite theoretical, a lot of talking that could have been written down in a few (or even a single) page. There are a few repeating parts too, and even a blank screen with some music in the final section. Moreover: it’s quite hard to take someone who says and writes “aputure” instead of “aperture” seriously.
However: some very useful information is given.

This course was more or less about organization. Section 6 is titled “the actual photoshoot” and there was no real practical showing of a photoshoot. It was a lot of speaking with very little showing examples. The most practical / usable lesson was on product / photo angles. This was the only lesson with visual examples to enhance what was being taught and it wasn’t even a main lesson. I would not recommend this course at full price. I am content having paid a deeply discounted sale price but would not want it at full price.

Pros: As a beginner, there was a lot of helpful information. Because of this course, I understand where I was making mistakes before, and what I should be doing to correct them. The course author comes across as someone who genuinely wants to help, and is knowledgeable in the subject matter.
Cons: The background music was off-putting. Parts of the course are repetitive. ‘The Final Word’ video has 3 mins of black screen and music which in now way adds to the course.

Fun lecturer and good content. You will learn the extreme basics and only the truest of beginner should take this course.
I took the course to learn more about setting up a scene and capturing unique shots not your direct shots. All that was taught is a boiled down version of the rule of thirds in your photography.
I wish there had been more exercises and ability to learn set up of the shots to enhance your products image not just get static photography.

lots of repeated information, course could be condensed into a 45-1 hour session. I hoped the course would analyse product photography more – looking at campaigns and what makes them successful / unsuccessful. I haven’t really learnt anymore information. If you have never picked up a camera this course would be beneficial, if you are looking to improve your existing product photography give it a miss.
