I don’t know how to describe it and don’t want to upset anyone (so I added a star), I’ve been making music on and off by ear and instinct for a year between game dev stuff (150+ songs) and wanted to learn some general theory as I don’t know how to emulate styles I like.
I’ve been kind of learning some theory throughout this but all the music so far sounds really quite bad to me personally (I do have weird tastes so it’s just me). The course is making me feel like I’m getting worse at music and making me lose a lot of confidence, maybe courses like this simply aren’t for me? I really couldn’t say, I’m trying to stick it through to the end but I keep dreading doing more (again I’m a not very average so this course is probably fine for most people, don’t mind me).

It was a thorough course and I really appreciate the time and dedication you put down to this course! I myself found me skipping a lot trough the videos, sometimes because I already knew about that theory but sometimes cause the videos were quite slow paced and kind of boring in certain areas. I do appreciate u really taking the time with things, but for me it felt like a waste of time. Like listening trough ur entire tracks during the lectures. Maybe it would have improved the interest with a videocamera to accompany your lectures? I see many teachers on udemy not using this feature of a webcam which I believe really puts a different level of immersion to it. Thank you for a very inspiring course! Cheers. 🙂

I feel the instructor doesn’t explain how they select their choices, I guess they’ve been doing it a long time and have internalised this process. As a beginner they appear to just select randomly and it sounds good but they have yet to explain their thought process about how they make those choices, maybe they’ll explain later in the course, but it’d be good to let us know earlier.

I’m going to be honest, I had nothing of knowledge in music, or composition, but after this course, I have learned a lot, and I have to say, the way the professor teaches it’s really great

Fantastic class! At the age of 35, I’m finally learning to create music, despite having absolutely no musical training.

So far, so good! The pace is perfect for a beginner and all the topics are presented in a slightly increasing difficulty scale. I will update my review at the end.

Truly amazing course! It’s perfect both for absolute beginners and pre-intermediate composers. The instructor covers all the basics of working with fl studio, basics of composition, music theory, which are more than enough to compose great music. I knew music theory before I started this course, but the explanations seemed really great to me, things are simple and easy to understand. You’ll compose quite a lot of music during the course, which is great. The narrator thoroughly explains everything without leaving you confused, no stuttering or stammering. Now to flaws. Although the instructor is great at arranging, improvising and what she’s doing, she isn’t the best at writing melodies, which makes her pieces sound a bit lame. Instrumentation makes up for it, but you probably will not hear banging musical pieces during the course. I’m not sure if simplicity of melodies was intentional for ease of understanding, but still I think it’s the only drawback that I can remember. Overall It’s a really great course and I definitely recommend it!

i really like this course, i’m learning more everyday about composition for game music, but i wished the teacher goes a little bit deeper in mixing and mastering but apart from that everything is cool

Very good, very useful information, and addressing all aspects, not just the “art” side or just the “technicalities”, but both, and nicely integrated.
