For years I’ve been teaching Ableton Live in the college classroom. As a University Professor, my classes are sought after, and, frankly, expensive. I believe Ableton Live can be learned by anyone, and cost shouldn’t be a barrier. This class uses the same outline and syllabus I’ve used in my college classes for years, at a fraction of the cost.
This version of the class contains all parts 4, 5, and 6.
This is a really deep class – tons of content, tricks, and tips. I’m giving you tons of complete sessions to play around with. Praise for classes by Dr. Jason Allen:
“Without a doubt the best explanation and east of use that one can get. It leaves you enough room to go explore. The classes go by quickly, so you can be on your way at being proficient. What are you waiting for!”
“Amazing – Seriously Loved It! I took all his courses and have to say I’m so happy! Learned loads! Jason is an awesome teacher!”
“I have never had any formal training in music at all. Trying to learn all the notes and how everything translated was a serious challenge. After going through this class, Dr. J has totally brought down the barriers. The content was very useful and was easy to grasp for me.”
“I like these courses because you can get up and running quickly without having to spend hours of time wading through TMI (too much information!). Jason hits the high points but shows you what you need to know. Thanks!”
“I’ve watched many other videos on scales and chords before, however, this one has been the best. I now understand minor scales and chords and even how to analyze songs. It really gave me the confidence to start producing music because I feel like I have some structure and guidelines to follow. AWESOME!”
“Clear and Informative – Jason has a clear uncluttered style (with the important dashes of humor) of presentation that is focused on the important key aspects of this course. Recommended for those starting out!”
“Dr. Allen does it again with his music theory series. This course really opened up everything I learned from the 1st section, and now I understand more about the composition side of things for music. I highly highly recommend this
course to anyone!!! Really opened my eyes to many things I wasn’t aware of.”
“The Best Teacher Ever, who makes you understand the ins & outs of Music Theory by all means without giving what you don’t want to know.”
Who this course is for:
- Students who want a comprehensive understanding of Ableton Live
- Anyone interested in producing tracks, beats, synths, or any other music on their own

Marijan Kudrna –
great, very detailed, very deeply explanations, I need to write a lot of informations, the best is you very often explain unknowable terms and functions in something recognizable, for example “damping in tension (instrument) is like putting a towel over the strings” – great! 🙂
This is a way how to lead a workshop. Welldone job!

This course is definitely building on the basics of parts 1-3. Ableton was this intimidating DAW at first, but thanks to Jason’s style and great teachings, it’s all beginning to come together. I’ve already started composing my own tunes. Can’t wait to get thru many of these chapters to continue working on my projects. This is all so very useful. Jason is a really good teacher, taking his time to explain everything, no matter how complex, and showing how it applies to what we want to do in Ableton. Great job!

Jason Allen is an incredible instructor, I’ve taken several other of his classes including his comprehensive courses on music theory and music composition and have learned so much in such a small amount of time. He never goes on for too long and always keeps it concise. All in all, Jason Allen is one of the best instructors I’ve ever had.
Whitney C Scheefer –
Definitely building on my knowledge I got in previous classes. Instructor is great at explaining. Happy in my investment so far!

HO DATO 3 STELLE PER IL FATTO CHE NON SI VEDONO MOLTO BENE I VIDEO-CORSO. MOLTE VOLTE I VIDEO NON SONO NITIDI DA VEDERE BENE LE FUNZIONI. SONO SPESSO ANNEBBIATI.
Nikolay Nikolov –
Thank you for your clear pedagogic approach, especially for the rack parts. I had some difficulties with the audio effects in part 5. Amp/Cabinet and Vocoder were instructive illustrations and I had hoped to have more similar examples. Nevertheless, the entire program 1 to 6 was super helpful to me.
Matteo Pennacchia –
The course it was interesting, I had fun even though the most of the thing the teacher was saying I knew, it’s useful for beginners who want to learn the basic of ableton. Thank you Jason!
Steve Cronkright –
This is a truly professional teacher. He goes over EVERYTHING in detail so you can have the comprehensive understanding of Ableton. I love this teacher and I’ve signed up for more of his courses.
Joris Vlaminckx –
Very good teacher, Jason Allen is one of the best on Udemy covering such topics and he is always very responsive to your questions.
The course helped me better than other videos I had tried before to really grasp the basics of advanced music production in Ableton Live. If I would have to point out one thing, only meant constructively, is that the long section on Audio Effects seemed to have surprised Jason himself on how long it took to soldier through all Ableton’s Effects, hence that part seemed a bit less focused near the end than all other sections I thought and could have benefited from some video editing. Of course entirely my opinion and it still is quite an accomplishment to have covered them all in one course.
Overall, I learned so much about how e.g. a chorus or a delay and other Time-based Audio Effects exactly work, even when as a guitarist I’ve been using such pedals for years without the proper know-how. So, I highly recommend this class and will probably enroll for his “Music theory for electronic musicians” classes next. Many thanks and keep up the great work, Jason!
