The Practical Guide to React Native: Build iOS/Android Apps
What you’ll learn
-
Build native mobile apps with JavaScript and React
-
Dive deeper into React Native
-
Develop cross-platform (iOS and Android) mobile apps without knowing Swift, ObjectiveC or Java/ Android
Mobile apps are one of the best ways to engage with users – no wonder everyone wants to build one!
Wouldn’t it be great if you could use your web development knowledge, combined with your React knowledge, to build mobile apps with that?
That’s exactly what React Native allows you to do!
No need to learn Java, Android, Swift, ObjectiveC or anything of that – React and JavaScript is all you need to create awesome native mobile apps that work on both Android and iOS. That’s probably the reason why Instagram, AirBnB, Skype and many other global companies are using it to build their mobile apps!
With this course, you can join this league. I’ll teach you all you need to create your own React Native apps, publish them to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and dive really deep into the React Native ecosystem.
You’ll learn all about the theory behind React Native, its core concepts, how to build responsive designs that work on different device sizes, how to navigate around, use maps and the camera and so much more!
And which better way to learn than by building a real app? We’ll build the “Awesome Places” app in this course, an app where users can share amazing pictures and the location where they took them. This app will allow you to see things like using maps, the camera, user authentication, connecting to a server and much more in action.
By the end of the course, we’ll of course also go through all steps required to get it into an app store.
Here’s a detailed look at what you’ll get:
-
The core concepts and theory
-
How to use React, JavaScript and native components
-
Understand how to navigate in React Native apps
-
A closer look at styling and animating React Native apps
-
Instructions on how to use third-party libraries in your React Native app
-
Detailed examples on how to use maps or an image picker
-
A full user authentication flow
-
How to connect to a backend server from your app
-
Debugging instructions
-
And so much more!
What will you need to succeed in this course?
-
NO Android, Java, Swift or ObjectiveC knowledge is required!
-
JavaScript and React (for the web) knowledge is required though – you don’t need to be an expert but the basics need to be set (though there are refresher sections in this course!)
I’d be very happy to welcome you in the course!

Great course, Max does a wonderful job explaining all of the important concepts in React Native. Highly recommend this to others interested in learning this exciting technology.

The course is pretty good. The only thing is the course should be re-recorded as it seems slightly outdated for some reason. (the course was recorded in 2019, as I was taking this course in 2021).
Fabian Janker –
Learned a lot, had quite a lot of problems with following along due to different versions, that play together.

This was an awesome course! More than I expected! If there is one thing I would change, I would like not to be sections of over 2 hours long because they are impossible to go through in one scoop, on a regular working day (at least for me…). Other than that, this was an amazing journey and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in React Native!

Course is good, but very old for 2021, because there is a lot of packages, which updated, and have a lot of conflicts with previous versions. Section 6 should completely updated, because students waste a lot of time , to resolve issues and conflicts of package versions. Overall course is good. But to be amazing it should rewrited

I am a big fan of Academind by Maximilian Schwarzmüller. I have already purchased couple of courses, but this one is not up to the mark. Because it’s all about Expo. Only just have a single session for non Expo topics. Also nothing related to bridge for accessing native features.

Comprehensive coverage of react native with example app projects.

I’m sorry max but the content of the course is really old. I’m having a hard time following your instructions because the syntax has changed in newer version of the dependency. I usually like max’s course. but not this one. I think you need to update this course.

This course as a whole was really good and hats off to Max for putting so much effort into making a good experience for his learners. It took a ton of work and time but I do believe that it was worth it in the end and I look forward to building some apps on my own and I feel confident that I can do it.
One note that I think should be mentioned is the problems with all the npm dependencies in the course. As a working professional, my time is very valuable an I lost a lot of it trying to resolve issues with this instead of working on the core content. I don’t feel like the issues were really addressed even though many students were having similar issues especially through the navigation modules. I know that to become a good coder you have to fight your way through this stuff and solve your own problems and I have no problem with that. With the ever changing landscape of this tech, it’s hard for anyone to constantly update the courses and address everything. However, I do feel that some things caused unnecessary frustration and it was very obvious through the Q&A sections what these were.
That being said – The pro’s definitely outweigh the con’s on this course and I would recommend it to anyone that’s interested.
-Cheers

I’m a big fan of Max’s courses, but this one needs an update. For instance, a significant part of the course involves React Navigation 4 and there’s a section afterwards with instructions on how to update to 5. However, the official docs is already on version 6. I understand that it’s a lot of work keeping up with these changes. But let’s look at another example: Max’s React course was redone from scratch to use hooks and it’s probably the best React course on Udemy right now. I think a similar redo using the latest React Navigation version could be really useful in this case and could turn this course into a real gem.

Very practical and indepth explanations with different approaches to make React Native apps. I am confident enough to build RN apps with ease after watching this course. Additionally, this course can be used as a reference in case you forgot some concepts or just need a refresher when working on a project. Thank you Max and Academind for this great and valuable content!

Excellent informative thorough and packed with useful information… as always with his courses 🙂
