Seth Godin on learning and education
What you’ll learn
-
How to create effective online learning
-
How to avoid the pitfalls of ‘edutainment’
-
How to lead the way as a teacher and creator
Let’s make school better.
Education created the world we live in. Enforced, top-down, compliance-based education. By definition, it’s scarce, it’s accredited and there are tests to prove you did what you were told.
And now, a revolution is coming. It’s about learning, not education. It’s about being remote, about being in teams, about choosing to level up and commiting to something important.
In this series of lectures, Seth Godin shares his forty years of experience as a teacher, with a special focus on the transformative power of a new sort of learning. He founded the altMBA, the most effective executive education of its kind, and then expanded it into Akimbo, which has more than 20,000 alumni in more than 70 countries. He’s been in the weeds, working with students from the age of 6 to 80.
Now it’s your turn.
Akimbo has become an independent B corp, and it’s no longer owned or run by Seth, but he’s using this series of lectures to share its secrets.
The challenge for attendees will be to commit enough to form cohorts, to experiment and to create their own next-generation learning interventions.
The internet changes everything, and now it’s going to change education. It’s up to people like you to help lead the way toward better.

there’s a lot to process here… understanding how it all fits into my life and my aspirations for teaching and learning isn’t slam dunk, immediate clarity… there are a few aha! moments for me mixed with recognition of what I’ve heard from Seth over the years and that sounds repetitious… okay, so maybe I should give it 4 1/2 stars… I know you’re not looking for a grade, but there’s a comic touch of irony in the star rating business here…

Seth Is an extraordinary lecturer and his illuminating teaching should be mandatory across the globe, I’ve been a fan of his work for years.

It is an excellent start. I can connect with all this because when I was in school and university, I was trying to understand the subjects and not cram and regurgitate.
The biggest challenge is that as Seth pointed that we are so brain-washed in the system with so called experts, who I would like to term spin-doctors, who gain by supporting the systems.
The clear example of that is the vaccine to treat Covid. Vaccines have not worked despite decades of research for flu and we are on that system and don’t want to look outside the box for a solution. The worst thing is if someone comes up with a solution, they are throttled by the communication systems and media so that majority does not know the truth.
This system Akimbo, falls in the same boat and unless we can create living and doing high-end work without the “Certificates”, which unfortunately is considered the way to keep out the dodgy people, how will it succeed.
This is my observation. If interested, I would love to communicate more on this.
I loved the initiative.

I love the content, but in the end is useful to get to know the method used in the altMBA of Akimbo, which is where the real learning is, I suppose.
Wendy Cain –
Great insights into learning, and I look forward to putting them into action!
Jeff Pelaccio –
Seth is the best. Always gives me so much to think about to better myself and what I can offer to the world. Big Akimbo fan. Thank you, Seth!
Anton Stegmann –
Brilliant insight. I’m busy transforming my executive mastermind business from being purely about status and networking to be about learning. This is helping me to do that. Thank you for creating this course.

Ce cours a fait naître en moi le désir d’apprendre au sein d’une cohorte d’apprenants et non un groupe d’étudiants! Merci

As always Seth blew up my mind. There is a lot to take in in this mini course but worth every minute
