Featured Review:

“For anyone who is a beginner, I like the fact that you are using people who have grown from their own experiences! They are down to earth and explain the differences of the products they use, like you are in the room with them.” – Lawrence Brenton

Do you ever struggle with wind, rain, heat or the wrong time of day at your photo session and think ‘it would be so great if I had my own studio’?

Do you ever think ‘I wish my client’s location wasn’t so cluttered or dark or ugly’ and ‘it would be so great to have my own studio’?

Do you want work in a safe environment where you are in control, and be the master of your light?

If you answered ‘YES!’ to at least one of those questions – then it’s time for you to think about finding and setting up your own photography studio space!

We went through all those issues from battling rain when living in England to harsh Californian summer heat, so we understand you. If you want to bring your photography to the next level but are daunted by all the factors involved in setting up a studio with the right equipment, then with us you are in good hands.

This course will save you a ton of research time and money by drawing from our own experience, cutting straight to the necessities with no fluff, so you don’t have to make the same mistakes. In this course we will cover:

  • Finding the right studio location

  • Size and shape of the room

  • Pros and cons for your own needs

  • Lighting equipment from flashes to studio strobes

  • Modifiers – softboxes, beauty dishes and more

  • Backgrounds – stands, paper/vinyl/patterned

  • Props and accessories

Think about how fun it would be not only to work in your own environment, but also to meet your client for the pre-consultation or sales presentation in your own photography studio rather than in a crowded coffee shop.

You will be able to produce a greater variety of images in a smaller time frame – which means more customers and more profit. Or if you are shooting for a hobby, you will be able to create your vision without being at the mercy of the weather or location.

For your great new photography studio you don’t even need a huge space or super high ceilings. We will go through all our studio’s limitations and how we found solutions so you can achieve the same results.

After this course you will know what you need to get going with setting up your own studio space whether it’s in a leased room, spare bedroom or basement in your home.

***Plus: A complete 1.5 Hour Lighting Tutorial to show you all our different modifiers!***

Have fun and Happy Shooting!

Who this course is for:

Great course for someone who wants to build a photography studio. The instructor is fun and experienced.

I think the course could use some engaging techniques. I also think the last Photoshop videos were a bit confusing !

    Great course overall 🙂

The instructor goes into great detail about each topic that is being addressed. It’s great that she is using a model to show actual results instantly that correlate to what she is explaining.

I am not planning on building a studio but I still got a lot of useful information from the course. This will help when buying some gear. There were many examples which were very helpful. The bonus section was informative too. I am glad I made this purchase.

Great course so far! I especially like how each piece of equipment is listed, as well as where it’s sourced from. The explanations of how each piece should be used are great as well.

It was a lovely experience, it has given me solutions to many of the problems I was facing. I feel so relieved because I felt very frustrated and helpless before with the challenges I was facing and not knowing how to resolve them. Lovely husband and wife team. They taught very well.

The course had some very nice points. It has probably saved me some money getting started.
Parts of the course was obviously for professional (or very serious) photographers, because it dealt with renting a space for a studio, and I’m a hobby photographer with portable equipment. I could relate, but it didn’t help me much.
I did like the lighting tutorial, though. I think, it’s great for beginners.
To make the lighting tutorial even better, it would’ve been great to show the different pictures next to each other on the screen, so the change would really show, instead of just showing one and requiring the viewer to remember the last photo.
Parts of the video production could be improved as well. At times the audio is a bit off, either not clear at the beginning of the clip, falling out in the middle or just getting a lot of noise when Matt assembles the soft box. It’s not essential to the video, but it would improve the experience.
In all, the course is well worth the price.

Very good and informative, some parts I felt were spoken/presented really fast so had to rewind a few times to take the content in but overall very knowledgeable.

This course was very helpful. Matt and Sandy are a great team, I wish to visit their studio and meet them some day. A lot of things they say are very helpful since a lot of people like me will start photography in small budgets. Big thanks to them for putting this material out there to help people like me and thanks Udemy for making it so convenient to watch and learn. Thanks
