“Terrific course with innovative approaches to learning sight reading and beginning music theory, clear explanations and demonstrations, and abundant resource materials, all delivered in a calm, friendly manner. Would give 10 stars if I could. Thank you, Benedict!” – Taome N
“His unique method of understanding scales is, by itself, worth the price of the course. Check it out. Definitely one of the best online classes I’ve taken.” – Lynn Kear
“If only every teacher/instructor could make learning this easy for their students.” – Nana Okyere
Since I launched my “Read Music FAST!” course 2 years ago people have been asking for a sequel, and I’ve finally had time to make one. In Part 1 I showed you how to read individual notes really fast using my unique reference note system. In this course I show you how to read notes in context, by getting really good at reading the distance between notes, and how to read and memorise the key signatures, all using lots of worked examples. I also reveal my Red/Blue System for working out major scales which I’ve been teaching my private students for years but have never published publicly before.
Note: this course does not teach you who to read rhythm. That’s a huge subject that will require an entire course to itself!
Who this course is for:
- This course is for anyone wanting to apply the note-reading skills they learned in my “Read Music FAST!” course to real pieces of music
- This course is *not* for anyone wanting to learn how to read rhythm – I hope to cover that in a later course!

The best ever course in piano. I have purchased all courses one by one on Udemy of this teacher. Completed them perfectly. My theory knowledge has become so clear that I now am able to work more smoothly on my score sheets. What an easy approach to teaching and so clear. It is a complete package to piano learning. I feel I am blessed. God bless you all

In one word, it’s a beautiful course. I could feel the instructor’s love for music in this one, especially the last video on the working of circle of fifths. I had independently worked that out before, for exactly the same reason as the instructor mentions, that it doesn’t seem to be documented anywhere. The major takeaway from the course would be the red/blue system. It’s extremely simple to understand, and rather straightforward mathematically that one would wonder why it’s not popularly used. However, it’s much easier to understand a result once it’s presented neatly, but takes a lot of thinking to be the first to discover it from the chaos. I give 5 stars to the instructor for sharing these gems from his lifetime experience.

This course has given me a way to retrieve most music theory in my head via simple rules of thumb (literaly). Benedict teaches how you should go about learning what you need to learn with an interconnected system of notes and scales. While it sounds complicated, it really is not. No more video tutorials for me though, time to take on real pieces 🙂 Which he provides in the end free of charge

I took the first course. I equally thoroughly enjoyed this course too. Now I need to master which shouldn`t take too long. Thanks a lot Benedict. An investment for lifetime and an excellent value for money.

Benedict explains everything so well that I feel picking up the piano after stopping in primary school, I feel confident of resuming my piano studies! Thank you so much!!! 🙂

This was revelatory for me. There are a handful of super efficient algorithms.
After grasping the red/blue pattern, I immediately started looking for similar ways to apply it to major chord patterns. There’s plenty to explore here – I expect there are similar patterns in the minor scales.
I managed to simplify the circle of 5ths algorithm to counting the notes played by one hand in a pattern of ascending fifths. I expect the instructor gets to this (I’ll find out as I watch more).
This is something my Alfred’s self-taught experience was definitely NOT going to give me. Bravo!
