I recently enrolled in Dogonomics – not because I like economics in particular but because I LOVE dogs. I thoughtn it would be interesting to see/hear the course and, as an added bonus, my fee went to Dogs4rescue, a charity I support wholeheartedly.

So, what is the course about?

The short answer is (unsurprisingly): dogonomics!

This term is fully explained in the opening lectures. I was amazed at how much actual economics dogs know without having to paw over textbooks. I have watched all the lectures, although I am told that there are another 38 due to be uploaded very soon. (Something about uploading problems ‘dogging’ the course!)

So far I have learned how dogs appreciate and understand the problems of scarcity, competition, the free market and even small firms! Astonishing. Also there are a few film clips (of dogs) and cartoons (of dogs) that are used by the Instructor to illustrate the points.

I should add this course has serious moments (Brexit, economic conundrums and health economics) but also some very funny moments such as the ‘hide and seek’ clip.

A great course for a great charity! Thank you, I learned a lot

I love dogs. Dogs (and other animals) need all the help they can get in this world controlled by humans and built for humans. I have now finished the course – and have learnt something about economics and ethics. By doing the course a charity gets a little help. Really pleased there is someone prepared to work so hard on a course so that money goes to charity. I’ve checked the charity, it really exists. This course gets my 5star ethical award.

At first, I just looked for a course which can teach me a lot about economics.

Currently, I took about 30% of the course and I learned a lot from it. Also, this course offers me a BIG BONUS by allowing me to do a good deed (to do charity by just purchasing the course), which in the end giving me a better sense of fulfillment.

Now, I just finished the main course and I would like to add more comments about this course.

In this course, the instructor teaches the economic concept using picture of dogs and let the student guess what economic concept he is going to teach.

At first, I completely have to clue what to guess, since I have no experience and knowledge in this field at all. But soon, using class materials suggested and given by the instructor, I have become familiar with terms and various economic concept through the course (e.g., inflation, demand, elasticity of supply, link between companies and their supplier, and many more).

Surprisingly, those picture of dogs helped! Memorizing economic concepts while thinking about what kind of picture the instructor used in each class somehow makes it easier for me to memorize and reorganize what I learned in class.

    PS.
    – I also learned about dogs a lot better thanks to this course, lol.
    – The last section on Brexit is incredibly interesting. Although it was packed with a ton of information and may take time to digest/absorb all of them, it was indeed very good lessons 😀

Der Einstieg über Hundeökonomie ist für mich überraschend. Es ist toll zu sehen, dass man im Verhalten von Hunden “wirtschaften” erkennen kann. Bin gespannt, wie es weitergeht.

well he briefly told about his likeness towards dogs but that becomes obsession in the lectures. i like dogs but I opted for this video for the knowledge but out of 11 hours it just seemed of 2-3 hours of economic knowledge and rest he was promoting to just get a dog for a better life. i don’t know how he got the ratings above mine but I am totally now satisfied with this. thank you.
