This course was fantastic, and I’m glad that it took its time to teach me the fundamentals to Hiragana and Katakana. The basic greetings at the end was a very welcome bonus as well.

Perfect intro course for writing, pronounciation and simple greetings. The lessons are concise and compact and are executed at a good pace. I’m deducting half a star only because I’d have loved to get a vocabulary sheet with all words used at the end of the course. Recommended!

As foreign language learner, I felt a little anxious if I’d be able to learn Japanese since everything was totally new to me. At the beginning, I really thought it would be extremely difficult for me to study the first few rows of Hiragana vowels. I’m very glad teacher Ando Aki taught each skill clearly one by one, so I was able to follow quite easily. Along the way, I felt at ease with the idea of pausing the video whenever I need to. This allowed me to have more time to repeat and pronounce the sounds by myself and write them on my worksheets as guide. With this, my learning of the basics of Japanese language has been an exciting mind exercise at my own pace. As I was studying more symbols and sounds, learning to read and write Japanese words also became more challenging. I had to memorize a lot of characters (some look almost alike the other.) When I started taking the Katakana lessons, I was a bit nervous that I might forget the Hiragana. Good thing, the teacher taught the Katakana vowels and symbols while reviewing its Hiragana equivalent. The worksheet shows the same format as well. It’s both hard and interesting to study Japanese language, but with continued practice, I think I’d be able to use what I learned here to understand the language. Thank you, Udemy.

Good starting point, learning the very basics and structure of the language before picking up any vocabulary is a good idea, overall flow was good, engaging and effective. Practice should be done outside of the course to fully remember everything.

Dita Kristy –
I thought it only will about writing hiragana and katakana, but I was wrong. There were valuable informations about the order of the strokes and the correct way to draw it, like when to use stop, jump, and sweep lines.

Quite Good. Definetly what it is required to start. However, A little bit tedious.

Not just to pronounce, read and write. There’s much need to memorize the words. Thank you Attain and Ando Sensei for the lessons.
