The photography industry is one of the most challenging, difficult and competitive for start up businesses. The statistics prove it. Today, only 15% of photographers make it to the third year in business. 15% means that 85% of photographers give up their business within two years. The number is staggering.

There are countless photographers today and the field continues to grow by leaps and bounds. In fact, almost everyone who owns a camera calls themselves a photographer. Don’t let this discourage you or put you off.

Learn what it takes to not only be a professional but also market yourself and photography effectively. Challenges await you at every corner.
I’ve been a professional travel photographer for many many years. I know what works, what to avoid and who to avoid I will share this plus a whole lot more in a comprehensive, no nonsense way.

Very informative coming from an expert in the field. Realistic and to the point. Engaging and presents examples. Teacher invites students to contact him as a mentor he’s motivating and approachable. Thank you Mr Paulda! I will look for his published books because I intend to add to my photography references, which I am developing in my personal library. I like the nice touch of his cat gracing us with its presence about halfway into the course.

This course has a huge impact on ones business plans. It is one that simplify real issues into handle le chunks. I will need to review the sections as I build my business. Thanks for sharing your life’s experience . It is real and almost a biography without myth.

I loved it, but i believe if the instructor could talk faster (not too fast), i mean on a good pace and not too relaxed, the course would be more engaging, less time consuming, and more.

The information about being a photographer is cliched. And I think you are better off finding something about how to make a website, because at the end of the day he doesn’t even tell you how you create a website just general information. Couple really great tips on websites and tools to use.

Always helpful with ideas and gives possible photo outlets via personal messages. However, because of Marks own business programme responses to my messages are often slow, which I guess is understandable under the circumstances. I am a fast learner and always on the move to learn new aspects of photography, so I tend to want to move forward quickly. Is that bad thing – or not?
Thank you for a great and informative course. Although I have completed it I will go through the course again but in more depth.

Probably would be better and more interesting for those wishing to get into freelance, travel, or stock photography. As my interest is more in portraiture and opening a brick-and-mortar studio, I didn’t see relevance in much of the course in what I was specifically looking for. Pretty basic.
Instructor needs to speed up the delivery as I had to speed it up to 175% just to keep it flowing.

Well done!
Thank you that you give understanding how this business works !

Mark is certainly a pro. I recommend checking his website. I found this course good. But based on my business and communications background, I felt that I am familiar with most of the business aspect. The information is good for a beginner or a photography startup. I enjoyed the most sections 7, 8 and 9. I like the personal stories that Mark included in the course, they are somehow what I enjoy best while traveling. Some topics could have been better summarized such as the online presence, while other topics such as the offline marketing and relationships could be expanded more. Thank You Mark.

Greate course! Mark goes into great detail about being in business and the work required to succeed. He talks about wearing multiple hats, things you need for your website and how you can market your work. The importance of networking and building relationships outside of social media. Lots of resources(pdfs) and golden tips to help on your photography journey.
