What you’ll learn

  • Learn and Understand the “Rules” of Composition for Dynamic Photography.
  • Develop Your Artistic Vision.
  • Apply your new knowledge of creative composition throughout the course.
  • Transform the ordinary into something extraordinary.
  • Understand how the “Art of Photography” transforms what you see and learn how to capture it with your camera.
  • See the world differently through your camera’s viewfinder.
  • Bind structure, balance and dynamics together to transform them into a photograph.
  • This course takes you on a photographic journey and encourages you to explore your creativity – all without PhotoShop. You are in control of your camera and I’ll take you from “Good” to “WOW.” You won’t look at photography the same way by the end of this course.

Photography is about the frame you put around an image, yet the story does not end there.  Your photo goes beyond the frame, through a kind of intuition.  It captures the gesture of a particular moment and conveys a message through careful targeting and emphasis of certain key features.  It says “Look!  This is special.”

To make your photography special you need to understand composition, which IS the essence of photography.  Yes, exposure, aperture and ISO are important, but it is the composition of your photos that will make people take notice of your images and remember them.

When you create a composition there are countless possibilities.  Learn how to make certain decisions creatively and with accuracy.  There are nine key elements utilised to achieve stunning photo composition and I take you through them – step by step.  You’ll have plenty of practice and plenty of opportunities for constructive feedback.  And, I’ve simplified the content of the course so there are no fancy photography terms to remember.

If you are looking to improve your photography from Good to WOW, then join me for a creative photography journey.

The teacher is animated, engaging and thorough using simple terms to aid in the assimilation of various basic concepts in the course matter. The tempo and speed in which the course is being presented is perfect make learning faster and easier. The task portion is simple and to the point, the animation is very fun and conveys the messages being taught. Great for beginners to intermediate. The photo critiques is the part that I found most helpful in re-enforcing the concepts. I will look for Mr. Paulda for further learning! Thank you.

Much of what I do in photography I have already incorporated in my compositions. What this course taught me is to ‘name’ different elements and rules. Normally in my head I shoot a shot and name the shot afterwards. Seldom do I look at a shot and give it an identity then shoot it by my own standards. The rules and elements I learned in this course help me better to identify and structure my compositions better because they are now ‘labeled’ with a term. Giving them more meaning is what I mean.
Mark brought out two great points for me that I definitely need to improve on.
    1. Identify your style
    2. Familiar Room
The exercise of the familiar room goes beyond the walls of my home. The area I walk daily with my dog is getting so boring that I find myself in a shooting rut. I get depressed, bummed out, lose interest, or just forget about going out with the camera on a given day or time.
I’ve previously tried to talk myself into saying…Kevin, look at it all differently, what are you missing? It works for awhile then I fall into the rut.
The Familiar Room exercise combined with the elements and rules of this lesson in composition will definitely take me to a new level.

Relaxed approach that conveys technique. This is my second time through, and I’m not an easy student.

Well explained with good ideas, especially the bonus exercises.
And as the tutor says, practice, practice, practice is absolutely key to it all.

Everything presented makes sense. The question is how to apply it for my own photos. Not so simple.
Yes I believe you, practice is he way. Must take the rules along until I know all of them by heart. Tend to lock onto a few of them and forget the rest. Work to be done. Thank you.

Very interesting course and great presenter. While a lot of the content wasn’t new to me, there were a few elements I hadn’t heard of e.g. Dutch Tilt. Keen to develop my artistic skills of photography with this additional knowledge.

No, el título me confundió, se acerca más a elementos de la composición que a composición de fotografía dinámica.

This course is recommended for all levels while it is definitely for beginners. As a practicing artist and teacher myself, it was nice to revisit what I studied in art school though I was expecting to delve a lot more depth in what dynamic photography is. This course would be very good for those who have only very little knowledge about composition, and photography in general.
