Why should you take this course
I am teaching Spoken Arabic in this course. There are two branches of the Arabic language: Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and colloquial, that is spoken Arabic. Most people begin to learn MSA thinking that this is the language used to communicate day to day in the Middle East. However, MSA is not used in day to day communication, as it is to Arabic what Shakespearean English is to English.
The Nassra Arabic Method . com is the only personalised, on-demand, and interactive online tool for learning spoken Arabic. It was created after a decade of research by Khaled Nassra and has been tested on hundreds of our foreign students. It is the only online Arabic course where you are guaranteed to put your newly-acquired language skills into practice immediately.

Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Riyadh
Omar Nassra gave me twelve Arabic lessons in April – June 2014. I was a complete beginner. I found Omar an excellent teacher and achieved more in the limited time available to me than I had expected. I learned the alphabet, and am now able to read and write; we covered some basic grammar; I gained a reasonable vocabulary (perhaps 300 – 400 words) in areas relevant to my forthcoming job as Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Riyadh and to life there; and I feel I have an understanding of the way in which Arabic works – sentence construction etc. All in all, this should help considerably as I assimilate the culture in Saudi Arabia, and gives me sound framework for further study in-country. Omar was friendly, patient and clear, understanding my needs and pitching the lessons appropriately. I have no hesitation in recommending him as a teacher of Arabic. I should be happy to be contacted direct (wildash@tusker.co.uk) in case of need.

Thank so much for the great lessons. The Nassra Arabic methods of teaching are absolutely fantastic as it is very efficient and enjoyable. I am confident that soon I will be able to speak Arabic with the family of my husband, who is Syrian. I am so grateful to finally have found such a great and patient teacher. I am also amazed that within only 3 lessons I am starting to talk a bit and understand some basic conversation! I would recommend Nassra Arabic Method to anyone who wants to learn Arabic.

“Khaled skilfully balances academic focus and strong professionalism with a lively and engaging teaching style. I would highly recommend London Arabic Direct for those looking to become conversant in Syrian Arabic in a short period of time“

“Khaled’s major strength is his ability to connect, to understand how to help me learn (what’s important, strategies for daily learning, how to recognise obstacles and overcome them, reviewing this regularly). He focuses on communication, which is brilliant – we speak a lot and this really helps my confidence. I find him a really intuitive, encouraging and patient teacher.”

The instructor’s voice is very pleasant to listen to, as well as having an accent that was easily understood while authentically teaching proper pronunciation. This method is easy to learn, and makes me confident that I can learn to speak Arabic. The only criticism I have is that the vocabulary portion was poorly recorded and difficult to understand while being one of the longest of the content.

I lived in Saudi Arabia for five years, about 5 years ago, and knew only about 50 words because I lived on a Westernized compound and worked for Saudi Aramco, which company used English as the standard language to communicate. I’d always had the desire to learn Arabic and regretted not having learned. I lived there 5 years, then took a break and moved back to America. My husband gained employment in Riyadh and I have been here now for about 6 months. I was determined to learn Arabic this time. When I first moved back to Saudi, I started studying the alphabet on my own and learning vocabulary words. What I was learning, however, was foosha and wasn’t really able to understand or speak to anyone. It was extremely frustrating for me. So I began searching online and found the Nassra method beginner course through Udemy. It was inexpensive, so I decided to try it out and have been pleased for the most part. I am much further along, I believe, because I have been studying with this course. I met my yoga teacher, who is Syrian (love her–so cute!) and asked if she would help with correcting what I am learning online to the dialect here, in Riyadh. She and her parents moved here 7 years ago, so I knew she was very familiar with the dialect here.
What I have found for the most part, is the things I have learned online with the Nassra method have been fairly universal, and I could use them with people I was communicating with around here. (I have to make opportunities for me to communicate in Arabic with people–they all want to practice their English! Lol!)
My few complaints are that the course is somewhat disorganized. For example, methalen, sometimes Omar would say, “In the next video I am going to teach you….” and then the next video would come up and … it was something completely different than what he said it would be. This happened a few times. Another complaint is that some of the videos were difficult to understand because of background noise, static, or the music they would randomly add to the video for seemingly no reason. It was quite frustrating for me several times, as I would be trying to understand what was being said. Music comes in to signal the end of things–not to bring distraction to learning. (My profession is instructional design and technical writing, so forgive me if I sound a bit too critical. I only write this to make the experience better for others.) The last critique I have, is that I would love to see the words written more consistently as they are said–both for English translation and in Arabic script.
Overall, I really loved the course. I have probably overused the videos because I am a big believer in repetition and many of the videos encourage interaction. Omar mixed it up with videoing live lessons with other students and it gave me a chance to hear their mistakes and correct myself and also gave me a chance to spit out sentences before the student would have a chance (this was after I had watched the video several times already). My Syrian friend is pleased with my progress and I really, really hope to continue progressing, but at a speedier rate. I very much would like to be speaking fluent Arabic in less than 6 months so I can communicate with the locals. Thanks so much, Omar, for making this available online!

I’ve always been an admirer of this language, and being a converted Muslim, an ardent follower of Islam as well. This course made the Quran (that I reluctantly, had to go through in English translation earlier), comprehensible to me in Arabic as well, to a much greater extent. Moreover, it quenched my thirst for knowledge as well. Hats off to the tutor.
Regards.

Honest review:
So I been learning Levantine Arabic for a while on my own via YouTube and other instructors. So I decided to give this course a try. I was skeptical about the bad reviews because the instructor of this course seemed to make all those reviews look fake… I regretted my decision not listening to the reviews because what they are saying is TRUE. I really wouldn’t recommend this course for anyone who wants to learn spoken Levantine Arabic. The reason is because like other reviews has mentioned, It’s really disorganized. So there isn’t a clear structure. You would be jumping around trying to find the right order for each lecture. Also there are only a few verbs you learn, some greetings, and how you introduce yourself but thts about it. The Instructer just shows videos of him talking to other students and him promoting his book or his website… so you would have to buy his book or access the website if u want to learn any vocab. A lot of the lectures are like falsely advertised, such as “Arabic vocabulary”, that lecture just shows him speaking to other students and asking them wht these words mean which is bizarre because he’s not really teaching you directly, he’s just asking the students questions and having them answer him. So tht wouldn’t help because you wouldn’t understand anything they are saying or even learn the word before hand. Another lecture titled “how to make a sentence in Arabic”, doesn’t show him explaining anything about how to form a sentence by using grammar structure. Other reviewers have mentioned this too,(I should have listened to them). That video is just him putting a couple verbs together that’s it. No explanation of where the verb, pronoun, noun or adjectives go or even forming different tenses of sentences. Yeah, so a lot of the lectures are just talking about other students which is awful since u would think he would actually teach. Honestly, you can learn 10000x more on YouTube than taking this course. I’m actually pretty disappointed on how this course turned out, I was hoping it would turn out good. There were only a very few lectures tht was actually good. The rest is just BS. So, I really don’t recommend this course for anybody who is wanting to learn spoken Levantine Arabic. For myself, I think I’ll just stick to YouTube and other Arabic learning apps. I hope the instructor who made this course, actually take in the criticism instead of being defensive. They should actually take the feedback they are getting and make the course right and better. Or else they would just be falsely advertising and ripping people off. To those of you thinking of taking this course. Just don’t, save your time and money.

After having spent 140 dollars on this course, I don’t know why this is a highly rated package. Explanation below:
This is a highly randomized course of thrown together material, marketed as a “methodology”. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the instructor’s actual teaching – his speaking and some of the graphics. He is eloquent and patient.
But this is not a “method” when there is incoherent sequence of material, with random iPhone and SnapChat videos of friends’ interactions of vocab.
I am very disappointed and after having been duped by the video review I can’t say I’ll be continuing. 140 dollars is an immense amount of money for a lot of people only to get regurgutated, arbitrary material packaged as a “method”.
