The GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) is a free Photoshop like graphic design software program that runs on Windows, Mac OS and Linux.
Well then, why isn’t everyone using it?
Even with access to GNU tutorials and YouTube videos the GIMP is still a hard program to learn.
Until now…
Welcome to the most comprehensive single GIMP course available on Udemy:
GIMP 2.8/2.10 Beginner-Advanced: Free on Windows/MacOS/Linux
In this course, which is 12.5 hours in length, I’ll take you all the way from installing the GIMP and configuring it to run on Windows to producing banners, book covers and memes that you’ll display using Facebook and other social media, WordPress and HTML. I’ll even show you photo touch up. In fact, I’ll show you everything I know in the natural order in which you should learn it.
So, what makes this GIMP course special?
I’ll tell you what…
This course is composed of 13 sections, each addressing a different topic and each averaging 30 minutes in length.
Each section presents one or more small projects that should be completed to demonstrate your proficiency with the material just covered before moving on.
And these aren’t bogus projects either. They actually produce usable results.
I ask you, can you afford just 30 minutes a day for under 2 weeks to learn the fundamentals of the most powerful free graphics program in the world? (Sorry, I got carried away — I don’t actually know if that’s true ;-).
If you do, then enroll in this course and let’s get started.
If not…
Watch me create an incredible looking 3D pool table and balls then take the reins and do it yourself.
Produce professional looking book covers with ease.
Distribute memes and other social media graphics on Facebook and 7 other social media sites.
Learn to use HTML from within WordPress to produce graphics effects attainable only through HTML and CSS.
Learn photo touch up using the GIMP.
All this knowledge and much more is at your finger tips.
And the course is still growing. I recently added a new section entitled:
Digital Drawing and Painting with a Wacom Tablet
So, what do you say?
This course was originally released as a series of 13 short classes on another online video learning platform. There is some redundancy in the course which should be skipped during viewing.
This course was guided by the contents of my previous 4 Udemy GIMP courses. Both learning routes remain viable but I personally prefer this newer, segmented and project focused approach to learning the GIMP.
Installing and configuring the GIMP on Windows is the only Windows specific lecture, all the rest should apply to all platforms (though I do demonstrate using the GIMP on Windows 10).
P.S. Don’t forget that Udemy provides a 100% money back guaranty if you return a course within 30 days.
Now, here’s what I’d recommend…
You can preview all the lectures in the first and second sections for free. Watch the first and second sections and if you like it enroll in the course. If you don’t like it then thank you for you time and I wish you the best.
Enough jabbering, I’ll see you in the classroom,
—Brian

Not finished yet, but getting to the end of the courses that I need. I’ve learned so much that I’ve gone from being a novice to feeling like I’ve been using GIMP for years. I cannot recommend this course enough.
Adrian Gawlak –
I can really recommend the course, it was very helpful and interesting. I had no idea about Gimp or any other graphic softaware and now I have the skills to use it for photo editing, drawing and making stuff for the internet. The author is very thorough and easy to uderstand, however sometimes the course is beeing too slow and gets kind of boring. I watched it on 1.25 speed and didn’t even notice after a while. On the top of that, there are a few topics in the course which repeat two or three times, because this course is actually a combination of few other smaller courses. In general, the course is cool, but the editing is sloppy, it could last about 90 minutes less and have exactly the same content and value, that’s why not 5 stars.

I have enjoyed the class and learned a lot of things. The segments were not real long. For me and my schedule, I could find my way back and forth at later times finding things quickly for review. The instructor is always responsive to questions and projects in very timely manor. I hope to take more classes later. I have several in waiting now.

OK, overall a pretty good course, but it appears to be a partially reworked version of several skillshare courses and still has references to skillshare. It references things which are not delivered, such as stuff about brushes. It mentions cylinders in the 3D section but doesn’t actually deliver. Apart from this, it covers the basics pretty well.

This is indeed a great gimp course. This course leads you from beginner to pre-advanced topic with the tool, and with enough practice you may end up with a freelancer job using the knowledge you acquired in this course. I highly recommend it.

clear, understanable, Very informative. This is more than I want or need to know for what I do at home but will continue to go through the course for the bits and pieces that I can use for my projects at home.

Excelent
Pamela Ofogba –
it a good match.

It is not merely a discussion of the software. The chapters have a specific goal in mind which helps you focus and what you are trying to learn and achieve. The projects get you to use the tools that are available. Experimenting with tool settings and trying different things makes the projects fun. I made mistake which turned out to make my project even better .
