I have been using Garageband since its release in 2004, and back then I used it to compose music for theatre.

It starts off with basic introduction of the App, but once the instructor goes deep into music mixing and automation, it only gets better. I would suggest to exercise in parallel on the provided files/ on your own music, otherwise for a beginner the information could get overwhelming.
Overall, worth every minute and Euro spent.
