I believe the course had very much valuable information. My reason for not rating this course higher is because I did not learn; I was only shown how and not why. As a student, I would like to have seen more information as to WHY a certain step or plug-in was used rather than just using it. I do not know in what situation I will be in to use a required plug-in, so…do I use a filter, do I use a sidechain, do I use OTT, do I use compression…etc…
I watched nearly two hours of video on how to make chords and guess what to do all by trial and error. This course had no planning other than the creative process of copying a premade track. Sorry Martin, but I feel let down.
My goal was to learn how to make a track from scratch as the lesson title stated, however, it was not from scratch, it was a copy from another track. If opening FL Studio with a blank playlist and constructing a track from my mind, I would have to use my experience and creative talent to make a track. Therefore, I need to know WHY I would use certain tools to make my track and this was lacking in this course.
