What you’ll learn

  • When you have completed this training, your knowledge of the terminology and physical principles that form the basis of the technology will be complete, at least the equal of what you might achieve in a more formal (and expensive) learning environment. You will be ready to go on to further, more narrowly-focused training in whatever related specialty you choose, or prepared to sieze opportunities that come your way in the future.

Electronics has become important to many fields; communications, automotive, security, defense and consumer electronics, to name just a few. This course will familiarize you with the theory behind various types of electrical and electronic circuitry. It concentrates on practical aspects of the technology, rather than delving into depths of theory that will be of little value in real-world working situations.

The teaching style is conversational one-on-one, the course consisting exclusively of short video presentations. PowerPoint, screen captures, text files, and the like are not used. A PDF version of each session is provided, which you may download and combine as your own searchable resource for future reference. Selected lectures include “Hands-On” labs that will enable you to work with circuits interactively with the optional “ElecticVLab” circuit simulator.

If you are a person who likes to know how things work, and enjoys the challenge of figuring out why not when they don’t, the study of electrical engineering technology is sure to offer knowledge and skills that will interest you, and opportunities in the workplace that you will find personally rewarding, and financially attractive.

This course can help you qualify for careers in a variety of entry-level positions, such as electronics technician, service technician, telecommunications technician and engineering technician.

Technology-focused companies and organizations hire employees who understand analog and digital electronics. Your understanding will be complete; comparable to what you might achieve in a more formal learning environment. You will be prepared to seize opportunities that come your way in the future, and ready to go on to further, more narrowly-focused training in whatever related specialty you choose.

Who this course is for:

  • If your goal is to move up into one of these better-paying jobs, you can get that basic training here, learning it all at your own pace, and in a stress-free conversational environment.

Absolutely engaging. The moderator is a grand educated individual that has the ability to make this course extremely interesting and not just the facts are presented, but expertly planned examples of the course subject as well. Awesome delivery of electronic training. Would take any course from this professor.

Easy to digest course that is fantastic when combined with the book that’s a available from Lulu and Amazon. The way Gene presents the material means it’s like listening to a family member explaining how electronics components do what they do. The main goal should be to keep the magic smoke inside the components because when the smoke comes out the magic stops. This is really an amazing course.

The course is rather comprehensive that covers the very basics of electricity, charges, etc., to “modern” designs and applications of integrated circuits. I personally found that the lectures were generally logically presented and easy to follow from the very beginning all the way to the earlier sessions on semi-conductor. Thereafter, I did find it hard at times to follow and I had to do extra reserach to fully understand the materials discussed. Nevertheless, this course provides a very good framework for the learning of basic electronics, and the accompanying projects are indeed very helpful in my opinion. Thank you Gene.

This course was the perfect match for me. I already had a basic understanding in some electronics. This course helped to fill in the gaps I had in my knowledge. This course also helped a lot with linking math equations to help find out the value of certain things in a circuit.

I’m a technician with over 45 years of experience and took this course as a review of elemental concepts. This worked perfectly for me because the 57 lectures are arranged well, with each concept building on the one before. I really appreciate Gene’s solid knowledge of his subject and his light-hearted delivery and I picked up many things from him. I like that he teaches without power-point animations and fancy graphics, just standing in front of a whiteboard talking like my old college professors did. He provides illustrations when necessary to clarify. Personally, I prefer to use conventional current when analyzing a circuit as a result of working with engineers and their schematics – this way the symbols for diodes, transistors and other directional components make more sense. Section 8 and its explanation of integrated circuits was particularly helpful to me and I plan to review it again and again. Thanks Gene!

Good recap of the electrical theory undertaken during my apprentice electrician days some 10+ years ago.

For anyone like me who has to understand something rather than remember ‘monkey see monkey do’ fashion – this is the teacher for you. In depth electronics knolledge is essential for military elite and finding one who has the skills to teach…WOW

I was looking for a complete beginners start with no expectations of having an aptitude for electronics or having previous knowledge. This so far seems to be exactly what I needed.
