This course provides a practical and in-depth look at the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) “What” and “How” Mindfulness skills. It not only explains these skills but gives examples on how to use these skills to change behaviours, reduce symptoms of mental illnesses, manage emotions and gain insights. It illustrates how mindfulness is far more than just a practice of watching your breath or scanning your body: The relevant skills can be used to increase conscious awareness and to have more control. This course also explains how mindfulness from a DBT perspective can bring us back to reality with “observing” and “describing”, because typically we believe and react to the false stories our minds create. These stories are a part of any mental illness and any emotional distress that we experience, so learning how to unhook from our thoughts is a powerful way of reducing suffering. This course is aimed at both individuals seeking to apply mindfulness to their lives for positive change and at clinicians seeking to broaden their understanding of how mindfulness can help clients improve their emotional well-being.
Who this course is for:
- Anyone interested in Dialectical Behavior Therapy
- Anyone seeking to apply mindfulness skills to daily life
- People seeking to change habits or behaviours
- Those who are looking for a deeper theoretical perspective on mindfulness
- Therapists wishing to increase their understanding of the DBT “what” and “how” skills

I can be skeptical (emotional judgement :P) about mindfulness etc, but I like it tied in with DBT and to be more purposeful. I decided to do this course struggling to keep motivated to finish (start) uni assignments. I think it’s going to do the trick! and also be great for life in general, as a sensitive and emotional person. thanks!

I am not able to get the lessons on my mobile and on my laptop, there is no video… This making me lose interest as there is no support from Udemy despite reminders about the issue

Thank you, Dr. Yvette! Your course helped me organize my thoughts, in terms of what behaviors I want to change + how to change them. I have read books on DBT in the past, but it was very helpful to take your course + hear your clear, simple, friendly explanations of DBT concepts (along with your relatable examples). Thank you!

I finally feel like I am heard, not judged, understood and that other people can learn from this and assist me to practice these skills and implement them in my daily life over time.

The course is informational, but it is a little confusing. Organisation of content could be much more structured.
