Learn the skills most core to DBT starting with the basics of mindfulness. This is the first in a series of Dialectical Behavioral Skills (DBT) courses to assist those who are interested in gaining control of their emotions, becoming more effective in your communication and relationships as well as having power in handling stressful situations. Each skill video includes a worksheet to continue helping you reach your goals.
Mindfulness is becoming more widely practiced every day as mental health professionals, spiritual leaders, and doctors extoll its virtues. DBT mindfulness is about more than just the practice of meditation. It offers various skills to help you stay in, and enjoy the present moment.
DBT is an evidence-based treatment for mental health issues including impulse-control disorders. It contains 3 other modules: Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness. Mindfulness is usually completed first.
Instructor Alicia Paz, M.A. has over 8 years of experience teaching DBT online and in person. In that time, she’s taught over 5000 students in 115 countries through her courses on Udemy and her live virtual DBT group. Alicia is passionate about making this beneficial treatment program accessible to all.

I really enjoyed this course! What I liked most is there were skills I could apply immediately, and they are easy to practice as well. Thank you!

Although the teacher is kind well intentioned and clearly wants to help people in need, this course, her way of teaching and her understanding of the skills is inefficient. It’s disorganised, doesn’t clearly explain each skill or what it’s for or how to use it. It’s like someone who sort of knows why DBT is about talking about the skills ether than someone who actually knows amd understands them teaching them. If she re studied them and spent time.creating a structured clear lesson for each skill her kindness and gentleness, her welcoming nature would make for an invaluable asset for those with BPD. But as is it’s more harmful than helpful as it confuses the matter which is the last thing those in crisis need.
