I personally found the course excellent, very clear (even for a beginner) and very useful. I appreciated a lot the insights of the film maker and the explanation of the “physics” behind each sound post-processing technique. This makes the ORDER in which these techniques must be applied and the selection of the PROPER PARAMETERS very clear ! Thanks ! 🙂

The speaker needs to organize the script instead of jumping rapidly from one point to another. Concepts are explained yet not very clear.

I’m finding it very frustrating. I’m just going to focus on the compression chapter, but what I’m saying applies to every chapter.
instead of relating compression in terms of police searching cars, why don’t you relate it to the police interrogation which you just showed? one person talks loud, another person talks quiet. can’t we use that example? we’re already looking at the cop in the background. I’m left asking myself, if the police allow four cars to pass and stop two, how will the actor sound? it’s confusing and you never once hear the scene you’re working on! I never have any idea what the compression sounds like.
I think it would be more understandable if you play us the problem audio, then how to use the tools to solve it, then what the finished audio sounds like, then what settings we should use for tv and film, *then* any criticisms you have of resolve. when you criticize the presets before you tell us how the tools work, we don’t know what you’re talking about.
I hope this is helpful rather than insulting, I mean for it to be a benefit to you. I’m on the verge of asking for a refund, but I’m going to give the course more of a chance. I actually need to learn this stuff and a refund is only 12$ anyway…
(update: the chapter on EQ was way better and used video in the instruction. the teacher was a little better at instruction in the second half, I’m upgrading my 1.5 to 2.5.)

I am definitely not an expert or well versed in this area, but the instructor was not very focused. Could be better thought out and presented with less fluff. The instructor seems to ramble quite a bit. I’m looking for better examples on when and how to use the settings. Most of the course I did not find very useful but towards the end he seemed to bring together some concepts that were useful. Although he presented an outline of a flow, the execution was not very good. We need real world examples that have some meat to them. I did find that sending to TV a limit of 6db to be useful.

The instructor obviously knew his craft, but it was a little too wordy and repetitive. I had trouble keeping awake through some of it.
But it was still worth the time.

Video was not very clear, it was a little un organinsed as in the way in which he ranted a little bit about certain aspects, I did learn but it could be condensed down alot

This is a good course if you get it on sale. I think I paid $9.99 or $14.99 for it. It is definitely not worth getting at the full price. If you are looking for a good explanation on the equalizer, compressor, limiter and when to apply them then this course it for you. You’ll just have to tolerate the long winded instructor.
Dutoit Cedric –
bad sound… for a course on sound ?? too much reverb, too low
Saleem Yousaf –
lots of explanations…more practical demonstration of use would be nice
