Video is all around us from social media to streaming and broadcasted programmes. In fact we are all so used to seeing slick, professional videos that most people don’t realise the huge amount of equipment, resources and money that goes into producing a programme. Imagine then if you could get that same look, feel and quality with your video production, without the need for the vast equipment, production team and expense. The good news is that you can, by using green screen.
If you have ever tried filming at home, you will know that finding a professional looking background is often a challenge. Filming outside is not easier because you have other people that could get in your shot, weather, lighting issues and stray noises to contend with. Not with green screen! You can film your background outdoors and then film yourself against a green screen in a controlled environment. The magic comes when you composite both bits of footage together and can control everything. For example, if the wave sounds on your beach are drowning out your voice, you simply turn them down, as they are on a separate layer.
If you are using a budget camera but want to blur the background and create a depth of field look, you can, simply add blur in the editing process. In fact, green screen production offers you so much flexibility, that once you start using it, you will be hooked!

Excellent explanations and graphics. I learned quite a bit of things that I can start using right away coming from zero. Excellent course!

If I’m being super-critical, I’d rate it a 3, if I’m being generous, I’d rate it a 4, but it’s definitely not a 5-star course. It’s definitely a GOOD course and I’m someone coming from many years of doing screencasts. I learned a lot!
Pros
1. Instructor put in a lot of effort, editing, and planning into making this course (there’s no doubt)
2. I learned some new features about Camtasia which is what I had hoped to get out of the course before starting
3. I feel confident after taking the course that I can put all the pieces together now to create green-screen videos
4. Lots of great links to resources I never would have known about on my own
5. Instructor was engaging all the way through
6. I liked that the course was quick (not a mega-course with many hours)
Cons
1. I would have liked to see very specific “here’s what to buy if you’re on this budget” product recommendations rolled up into an overall “package” recommendation. I feel like I know in-general what to buy, but I’ll still have to do a lot of further research on the many options.
2. If someone is on a shoestring budget, you will still spend several hundreds of dollars at minimum implementing the info in this course. If even several hundred is outside your budget, you may get great tips from this course but lack the initial means to get the equipment.
3. Instructor uses a very expensive piece of software and the tips provided was invaluable but I doubt relevant since many people probably don’t own that software or can afford it. I’m not docking the instructor for providing this info (because he didn’t have to!); I’m just saying it’s outside the league for probably most people just getting started.
4. I would have liked to see the EXACT setup. For example, the shotgun mic goes to some box that takes the sound to the computer? How to set it all up? I’m still not too sure but I’ll have to go back and try to get the overall concept.

I have previously set up my own cheap green screen version, and then had issues with the lights. Obviously, the results were not good. Even watching the first few lessons have saved me a lot of time, instead chasing after YouTube videos. I also like the course notes, with practical hints on where to buy, including two references for Australia. I now feel motivated to go back to continue with a home movie that I have relegated to the “too hard” basket for a few years.

probably the best green screen production course in the Udemy, it includes everything you need to know with recommenced resource websites I found they are very useful. For those FCP users, you may find the software section irrelevant, great comprehensive course though. Highly recommend, simply the best

Sorry but this was very disappointing course. The title and intro suggests this is a course about green screen techniques. It is not. It is a basic video making course. It shows you how and where to buy a camera, a microphone, lights etc and how to pay other people to do the work for you. Less than 20% of this course actually talks about setting up and using a green screen. There is no discussion on techniques or special effects.
I feel the instructor didn’t have enough information to present on green screen techniques, so he padded out the course with irrelevant material just to make it a bigger course. If you need to learn how to go to Amazon and buy a camera, then this course is for you. If you want to learn the “Green Screen Secrets” this course promises, look elsewhere.

This course was excellent and absolutely met my expectations. I think I now have a good understanding of what to take care of when using a green screen and now it is about trial & error!
