This course does do a good job of explaining how to set up your MySQL environment and starts quickly with data types and queries before jumping into more SQL theory and then returns to more hands on stuff.
The problem though is there’s no connection to real world scenarios. Joins are explained but how you make use of them and when to use a left, right, inner, outer is not covered. A lot of the queries written just assume intimate knowledge of every entry in the DB and you won’t have that in real environment. You can figure out better solutions.

I’m a total begginer, so I appreciated how repetitive the instructor was. But, the pace of the course was not the best, and the material is too limited and basic, even for a begginer like me. However, the little that was taught, was taught very well, in my opinion.
Rahul Rustagi –
The amount of pending queries is disappointing. Few things could be better like: Include index, Case, uuid.
Section 4 Add or remove foreign key incomplete foreign key removal process
Section 7 Left join wrong explanation when you reversed the tables 1 and 2
better explanation of null.
Section 9
the auto increment = 1 in case of wrong auto increment values of ID in the bookings table is missing.

Easy to understand material, with already built records for databases. The explanations are not rushed, examples are given, in a comprehensive manner. The exercises are relevant to the presented material and the Challenges section expand the knowledge, through practice, for the reviewed material.

I thoroughly enjoyed this course. The instructor is using a very lucid language and explaining the concepts in the best possible manner. I would like to have more courses from him.

Trick questions in exercises. Would love more explanation on why we need to do certain things and not just showing us.
Kathy Oluwi –
Jon is a great instructor who explains concepts clearly and with good pacing. I particularly appreciate how he reinforces understanding of subjects through always fully explaining how he has arrived at a solution and never assuming prior knowledge.

I really enjoyed everything about this course. I thought the exercises/challenges were fair and the instructor showed me many things that will serve me well going forward. Great course, great instructor!
Solon Polyzoidis –
Good course overall, some parts needed a bit more of an explanation I feel (where and having is one example, what are their differences and how to choose and use one over the other).
Thanks!

I have found the instructions quite clear, however I find there seems to be differences in the Mysql workbench version I’m using compared with the one Jon is using, particularly when trying to run parts of the code.
