Lori does a great job teaching you all the necessary steps to take a picture to a painting. I took this course to learn more about painting, as I have taken Lori’s other courses as well. She has a great style of teaching, and does things in short lessons versus longer “classes” – great for those of us with short attention spans. The only area she could work on is re-ordering the class, as she does the photo retouching on a different picture, then proceeds to go on to the santa picture after. Not a big deal, and actually helpful to see important steps done on 2 different pictures, but could be confusing. All in all a great course. I did reach out to Lori on Facebook – she’s busy, but she did get back to me personally in a couple of days, which is more than I can say for some other classes I’ve taken with other teachers – thanks Lori!

I loved the instructor’s teaching style, pace and explanation of exactly why, what and how she was doing in Photoshop. Very detailed, but made it easy to keep up and comprehend. Would definitely purchase another course by Lori Jill.

I have the impression that after using camera raw with the same settings my image is more grunge, while that of the video is brighter.
Very beautiful and useful.

I loved this course. Lori is very knowledgeable, has pleasant voice, goes straight to the point. Watching her use all the brushes is the best way to learn. I am pretty familiar with Photoshop, but still learnt some new tricks throughout the course.

I’ve seen some smaller details I’ve overlooked that will definitely help out on my workflow in PS within the Brush Settings. And I’m getting a kick on how you have to train yourself not to depend on what a photograph look like but more of a painting. The last bit when the instructor played with the textures toward the end, I’ve said to myself, this is too much and then when she zoomed In, BOOM it looks just like a illustrated painting!. I enjoyed every bit of this course. I have to try it on something. This technique will work wonders on building custom note and birthday cards.

I took this course out of curiosity. I don’t know if I will be doing painting but I am impressed with the results and technique used to achieve the final image. I learned about using PS brushes and blending which I can use on my photo retouches. The course was an enjoyable experience.

I am very happy to find this course and learn about the forgotten American Vintage Pin-up style. Thank Lori for her effort to bring back this amazing style. Even if I do not learn any new techniques from this course, the knowledge about the pin-up style is really worth my time and effort learning about this art form.
One caveat: The brush engine that Lori is discussing in the video is for old Photoshop version, so most of session in Section 3 is not applicable to the current Photoshop CC 2020 version. I was struggling initially but overcame and continue to the final section 4.
Thank you again, Lori!
