1 in 3 people experiencing a traumatic birth is WAY too high.

The statistics showing upwards of 15% of midwives and obstetricians developing PTSD from vicarious trauma is WAY too high.

My name is Dr Erin Bowe. This trauma course is like no other. I have the professional background as a clinical psychologist of 10+ years AND the lived experience of two traumatic births. I am the bridge between the research about birth trauma, and the lived experience.

I’ve used these experiences as a conduit for personal growth and strength. I believe that trauma can actually be your biggest teacher. I’m here to teach you how to navigate birth trauma, so that you can have a sustainable career as a birth worker.

This work isn’t all darkness and shadow! I teach you to find lightness in without making light of trauma.

You can make phenomenal change. You just have to decide. I can teach you to align your thoughts, words and behaviours to create the strength and resilience you want. To feel confident, calm and like you’re actually making a difference to birthing outcomes.

This course is specifically designed for you to feel a massive shift in how you think about trauma, and how you are showing up in the world to be with other people in theirs. Make the first step towards changing birth outcomes. For birthing people, for the babies, and for yourself.

Australian College of Midwives CPD Recognised Activity (16 CPD hours upon completion of the full course)

This is an evergreen course. Take it whenever you like, and take as long as you like.

You will be issued with a certificate of completion at the end. Note that Udemy provides this only for the total video hours watched. For midwives and other people looking for a full certificate of completion, please email me.

This helped put lots of pieces together about birth trauma and ptsd, and how a birth workers role fits into this setting. Thanks for the great resource you’ve shared through the course.

I don’t think I was really aware of what the course was about but so glad that I’ve taken it. It will be a slow process for me as I acknowledge and work through my own trauma. Still enjoying it and yes agree to provide support we need to feel it

It was very relevant to my work, however it did not add a great deal of knew knowledge considering my background and experience.

I found it hard to follow with the big gaps in her speaking. The content was good but I felt myself losing focus as I got to the end.

I work as a midwife, I had a traumatic birth experience. Ive been t5iggered and experienced further trauma and anxiety from being part of births. Ive experienced burnout to the point i was bed ridden for weeks and had to leave my position. Im alot stronger today and am at an age I am focused on myself and working through and understanding these processes instead of letting them overcome me and not understanding why and how that was occuring. Ive also left a 10 year relationship that ive just realised was very triggering to me regarding past traumas in my life. I’m at a wonderful turning point in my life and feeling very blessed to have found this course.

I am actively working as a midwife for over the past 20 years. I’ve seen many different scenerios of birth, no two are alike and some are so heart wrenching. I have to deal with each and every scenerio and process. Taking away the good, the bad and helping to process not only for myself but the client also.

Yes, I am enjoying it so far! Realising there are so many more things I can implement into my practice in the patient’s best interest, and my own.
