Really well organized and practical course. This was exactly what I was looking for. I know a decent amount of music theory, but have never learned about traditional songwriting structure. I knew my songs just didn’t sound right in some way and this has really helped me define a better structure.
Other people have criticized this course for being too heavy on country music, and honestly I don’t think it is a major issue. The instructor makes an obvious effort to choose songs from other genres as well.
This course is about writing commercial, traditionally structured music. So, if you’re trying to be the next Bjork, this course may not be right for you. As you hear a lot in music, it’s important to learn the rules, before you try to break them. This is an excellent course on what the rules are, delivered from a very practical viewpoint of how to get your career started if you want to become a professional song writer in the music industry.
